About the institution

The Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein is one of the world's leading design museums. It presents up to ten exhibitions every year covering a broad range of themes from the fields of design and architecture. These are shown either in the main museum building designed by Frank Gehry, in the Schaudepot designed by Herzog & de Meuron or in other venues on the Vitra Campus. The exhibitions are accompanied by lectures, guided tours, workshops and educational programmes. Many of the museum's exhibitions travel to partner museums all over the world. The work of the Vitra Design Museum is based on its unique collection of furniture, lighting and interior design. The museum's international team consists of more than fifty curators, researchers and other experts.
