The Star of Bethlehem
17.11.2017 - 07.01.2018
It belongs to Christmas as does the Christmas tree: the Christmas star, or star of Bethlehem, which is said to have lit the way for the Three Magi. In one instance it is shown shining over the stable where Jesus was born, in the next it is described as a comet. What was it in fact? Relying on artefacts from the museum's collections, the Christmas exhibition spotlights the discussions around the phenomenon and shows how the star found its way into popular imagery such as nativity scenes.
