Tower with lights in the foggy park at Fondation Beyeler
For the first time in the Fondation Beyeler’s more than 25-year history, the entire museum and its surrounding park are transformed into an experimental exhibition of contemporary art. Alongside works by Michael Armitage, Ian Cheng, Marlene Dumas, Peter Fischli, Cyprien Gaillard, Fabien Giraud & Raphaël Siboni, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Wade Guyton, Carsten Höller, Pierre Huyghe, Arthur Jafa, Koo Jeong A, Cildo Meireles, Fujiko Nakaya, Precious Okoyomon, Philippe Parreno, Rachel Rose, Tino Sehgal, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Adrián Villar Rojas, the exhibition also features collaborations with poets, musicians, philosophers, architects and botanists. The exhibition is conceived as a “living organism”, changing and evolving for the duration of the show. Connections and interweavings between individual works underline the concept of a group show developed in dialogue. This exchange also extends to works from the in-house collection, which are integrated into the presentation. While a number of the paintings, sculptures, films, installations, and performances were created site-specifically, others are adapted versions of existing works. The exhibition is conceived by a curatorial team composed of Sam Keller, Director of the Fondation Beyeler, Mouna Mekouar, guest curator at the Fondation Beyeler, Isabela Mora, in charge of international projects at the Fondation Beyeler, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries, London, Precious Okoyomon, artist, and Philippe Parreno, artist.
