Tour of the house
A historical building with white window frames surrounded by a green garden and old trees
The Haus zum Kirschgarten was built in 1775-1780 as a residential and commercial building for the Basel silk ribbon manufacturer Johann Rudolf Burckhardt. Since its opening in 1951, the Haus zum Kirschgarten has traditionally been regarded as a living museum: half of the 50 exhibition rooms are dedicated to 18th and 19th century Basel living culture.
