In her artistic practice, Marie Matusz (*1994) explores complex relationships between materiality, memory and narration through sculptural installations, sound, text and film. Drawing on philosophical, sociological and linguistic theories, her works carry a cinematic sensibility - stillness and movement come together to create reflective spaces where past and future meet. Through the layering of materials and the choreography of spatial encounters, Matusz invites viewers to discover the fragile relationships of perception and time and to understand the vulnerability inherent in the process of understanding. Her works are created in both an artistic and curatorial process and can be understood as chapters of a larger narrative. For her largest solo exhibition to date, she is developing a site-specific installation and a series of new works for the Kunsthalle Basel.
