Sounding the Interior

Tamara Al-Samerraei und Mireille Blanc
A bright room with large windows, empty chairs, and subtle green elements on the walls
The two artists Tamara Al-Samerraei (*1977, lives in Beirut) and Mireille Blanc (*1985, lives in Paris) draw inspiration for their multi-layered paintings from interior spaces and everyday scenes. Based on this, they each trace the interior in their own way as a place for free thought, but also for fragile and fleeting memories. Painting, usually in large format, is the genre chosen by both artists to capture motifs on canvas or other surfaces and at the same time open up different degrees of abstraction. How can we think and act from within and at the same time have an outward effect? The exhibition explores this question. Curator: Ines Goldbach
