27 October 2024 - 1 June 2025: Monsters don't exist! And yet they lurk everywhere. They populate countless books, films and legends. Some monster stories are ancient and part of our cultural heritage, while others are just being invented. But they all have one thing in common: monsters give shape to fear.
This statement is at the centre of the "Monsters" exhibition, which explores various monstrous creatures, including well-known figures from the Swiss legendary landscape such as the Basel Basilisk. The exhibition shows why our own imagination creates terrifying creatures, why fear is useful and how it can be dealt with. Last but not least, it provides valuable tips on how to defeat monsters - or make friends with them.
There is a lot to discover in a cellar - supplies, winter clothes and junk. Maybe there's a monster hiding among the old stuff? In this exhibition, you will actually encounter scary creatures. You will not only find them in stories, but also in shadows or jars. You can put your courage to the test at interactive stations, feel hidden things and listen to mysterious noises.
An atmospheric foray through the bizarre and enchanted for children aged 5 and over, together with their adult companion.
The exhibition is accompanied by various educational programmes.
