The search for the bird of paradise takes us on a journey through the labyrinth of nature. We encounter a wide variety of birds - colourful, weird and unknown - and their habitats. The 80 or so bird specimens on display come from all over the world. In addition to native bird species, the collections of Archaeology and Museum Baselland are home to over 1000 birds from different regions around the globe. The exhibition shows how collectors around the world hunted, prepared and transported birds to Europe in the 19th century. It also invites visitors to discover our native birds - to observe them, listen to them and draw them in order to find a personal approach to nature.
