The cathedral is home to a wealth of beautiful, strange or bizarre sandstone structures. Inaccessible, barely illuminated or far away, the rich details often elude the observer. Since its inception, the Basel Minster Building Workshop has regularly produced moulds. They are kept in order to serve as a model for the necessary repairs in the event of loss due to weathering or damage. Selected plaster objects are shown in the exhibition, some of them for the first time. The oldest cast on display dates from the 1840s. They enable a direct encounter at eye level and bring the medieval sculptors' love of detail to life.
