A fascinating underwater cave illuminated by blue light creates a mysterious atmosphere
A central concern of the French-Swiss artist Julian Charrière is the question of how mankind inhabits the world and how it in turn inhabits us. In a comprehensive solo exhibition, Museum Tinguely is presenting photographs, sculptures, installations and new film works that deal with our relationship to the earth as a world of water - an element that covers the majority of our planet with seas, lakes, rivers and ice. This makes it a habitat for a multitude of organisms and harbours circulatory systems that are crucial for the stability of our climate. The Midnight Zone exhibition focusses on these underwater ecosystems. From the Rhine to distant oceans, Charrière's works examine the complexity of water as an elementary medium subject to the arbitrariness of man. As a kaleidoscope, the show reflects everyday, sacred, political and sensual dimensions and invites visitors to immerse themselves deeply.
