The collective DUELL approaches a meta-perspective on spatial and temporal relations with sculptural, installation elements and video installations.

Space and time as a loop: What if the microscopic merges with the macroscopic? What if the future becomes the past? DUELL explores points of contact of formal time and scale relations with the political. The earth could become archaic again due to climate change, a single desert and emptied of all resources: Artifacts from contemporary culture become nature. For example, (an area of 775 kilograms) brick dust is transformed in its significance by being interpreted as desert sand.


For the research of the exhibition in Ausstellungsraum Klingental DUELL deals with extraterrestrial languages, codes or notation systems. They speculate, parallel to the brick dust, about a transformation of meaning of language: a language that materializes, symbols that assumes a life of its own and inscribe themselves into the environment.

Only when language emerges out of its cultural abstraction, it can become universal - not in Chomsky's terms, from human to human, but beyond the boundaries of the Anthropocene. Smudge, the messenger - is an approximation.
