Talk «Away»

10 June 2021 | 7.30 PM - 8.30 PM

Christoph Niemann travels, draws and paints. Well known to the Basel public since the famous Cartoonmuseum exhibition That’s How, this Berlin-based artist has now created Away, a wonderfully stripped-down book of impressions from his travels, in bright colours. Niemann talks about being on the road, as well as capturing loud and quiet moments.

A collaboration with Literaturhaus Basel.

Location: Volkshaus Basel, Rebgasse 12–14

Institution

The Cartoonmuseum Basel is the only museum of its kind devoted exclusively to satirical art – from the caricature to the comic. The Late Gothic building on its historic site also includes an unexpected new building by Herzog & de Meuron. Varying, attractively designed exhibitions on political and social themes show the considerable scope of the humorous drawing and the great diversity of artistic techniques. Equal attention is paid to both classical works, some from the museum’s own stocks, and contemporary works.
