Workshop

Cartoonmuseum Basel

In dialogue: Workshop with Jan Bachmann

06 February 2022 | 2.00 PM - 4.00 PM

In comics, a story can be formed using pictures and words in an infinite number of ways, so creating original characters, making them speak and giving the plot a rhythm can be quite challenging. In this workshop, comics artist Jan Bachmann of Basel provides insight into how he develops and combines his texts and drawings – and into how a comic is made. Ages 12 and above.

Institution

The Cartoonmuseum Basel is the only museum of its kind devoted exclusively to satirical art – from the caricature to the comic. The Late Gothic building on its historic site also includes an unexpected new building by Herzog & de Meuron. Varying, attractively designed exhibitions on political and social themes show the considerable scope of the humorous drawing and the great diversity of artistic techniques. Equal attention is paid to both classical works, some from the museum’s own stocks, and contemporary works.
