Anne-Lise Coste (*1973 in Marignane bei Marseille, lebt und arbeitet u.a. in Sète) beschäftigt sich seit Beginn ihrer künstlerischen Laufbahn mit dem Medium der Malerei (z.B. bei ihren Sprühbildern als einer politischen, gesellschaftlich relevanten Einheit. Durch die Verwendung von Text/Sprache, Farben und Linien auf klassischen Leinwänden oder auf gebrauchten, ausrangierten, übrig gebliebenen Materialien (Plastiktüten, Verpackungen, Holzteile, Plexiglas, Reifen oder Textilien) ist die Malerei für die Künstlerin ein Medium, um diesen Gegenständen eine aktive Kraft und eine neue Lesart zu verleihen.

In ihrer umfassenden Ausstellung für das Kunsthaus Baselland konzentriert sich Coste auf zentrale Fragen ihres Schaffens und wirft einen genauen Blick auf unsere Gesellschaft heute mit all ihren Brüchen und ihrer Doppelmoral. Zugleich erkundet sie die Möglichkeiten, aus jeglichen Zwängen herauszutreten und dadurch eine neue Freiheit zu erlangen.

Institution

The Kunsthaus Baselland is among the leading exhibition spaces for regional, national and international contemporary art in the Basel region. A special focus is put on artist of different age groups, which are working in Basel as well as on international working artists, which are working explicit with the place and the architecture of the Kunsthaus. Partially first big individual exhibitions for invited artists will be realized.

From SBB train station
About 15 min. from SBB: Tram no. 8, 10, 11 or on foot to Aeschenplatz (1 stop), from Aeschenplatz tram no. 14 in the direction St. Jakob/Muttenz/Pratteln to St. Jakob stop. Walk in the same direction as the tram you have just left until you cross a bridge. The Kunsthaus is on the left hand side.

From Badischer Bahnhof (German train station)
36 bus in the direction Schifflände via Neubad to St. Jakob stop, from there on foot to the Kunsthaus Baselland.

By car, A2
Exit Basel Süd/St. Jakob, turn left, past the stadium, direction Muttenz, at the first crossroads turn left and then directly left into the carpark.

By car, J18
Exit Muttenz/Industrie/St. Jakob, over the crossroads then first entry left into the Kunsthaus Baselland.
