Rembrandt’s Orient. West Meets East in Dutch Art of the 17th Century

Today: 10.00 AM - 6.00 PM

31 October 2020 - 14 February 2021

The Dutch were cosmopolitans even in the seventeenth century: the exhibition conveys the fascination that the Orient—seen through the prisms of works of art, objects of utility, and individuals—held for Rembrandt and his contemporaries.

Institution

The Kunstmuseum Basel invites visitors on a journey through art history from the 15th century to the present day at three locations. Masterpieces from the collection, high-caliber special exhibitions and programs offer the public multi-layered approaches to art. The museum's main and new buildings are located in the heart of the city - just a few minutes from the SBB train station, and a short streetcar ride from the Badischer Bahnhof train station. The Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart, dedicated entirely to contemporary art, is idyllically situated on the banks of the Rhine in Grossbasel.
