Cartoonmuseum Basel

Cancelled: «Rue de Blamage»

23 April 2020 | 8.30 PM - 10.30 PM

Director Aldo Gugolz from Lucerne spent part of his childhood on the infamous Rue de Blamage in the heart of Lucerne. Decades later, his documentary film carefully approaches people like street musician Daniele on his rollerblades, Connie, who meets her customers at a beach bar, and artist Christoph, who is starting to work on a monument to street sweeper Heinz at Kreuzstutz. Quiet little stories that go straight to the heart. A film evening with Aldo Gugolz and Christoph Fischer in cooperation with Filmhaus and Gässli Film Festival Basel.

Location: Filmhaus Basel, Gerbergässlein

Institution

The Cartoonmuseum Basel is the only museum of its kind devoted exclusively to satirical art – from the caricature to the comic. The Late Gothic building on its historic site also includes an unexpected new building by Herzog & de Meuron. Varying, attractively designed exhibitions on political and social themes show the considerable scope of the humorous drawing and the great diversity of artistic techniques. Equal attention is paid to both classical works, some from the museum’s own stocks, and contemporary works.
