The Genevan collective HÉCATOMBE: three men and three women dedicated to drawing and its narrative possibilities. Since 2004, their shared and experimental mission has been to keep the book-design process in their own hands – from the beginning and the content, through to the end and the material. Having been given carte blanche, this collective from Romandy transforms the cartoon forum into a bubbling mixture of participatory laboratory, performance and exhibition.

Institution
The Cartoonmuseum Basel is the only museum of its kind devoted exclusively to satirical art – from the caricature to the comic. The Late Gothic building on its historic site also includes an unexpected new building by Herzog & de Meuron. Varying, attractively designed exhibitions on political and social themes show the considerable scope of the humorous drawing and the great diversity of artistic techniques. Equal attention is paid to both classical works, some from the museum’s own stocks, and contemporary works.
